NAYIA T. KARACOSTA
Graduated from the School of Drama, Faculty Of Fine Arts-Aristotle University
of Thessaloniki, with a five year scholarship from the Cypriot National
Institution of Scholarships.
Specialized in Acting and Performance Arts.
As an actress she’s working for the past five years with Eleni Anastasiou as the director for the plays ''#George's room'' and ''Victora's and Maria's story''. These interactive plays are site-specific, happening inside the classrooms at schools and have as a main purpose to tackle bulling in every form. Alongside Anastastiou, she also co-wrote and performed the play ‘’Under/pants’’ based on interviews with women about masturbation. As an actress she also worked with Magdalena Zira in the theatrical play “The Wolves’’, with Asteris Peltekis and the adaptation of ''Thelestina'', with Alexandros Politakis and the
adaptation of ''The Perfume'', with Ersi Vasilikioti and Experimental Art Stage of Thessaloniki at ''The Visit'' and more. She worked with Nastazia Christodoulou in the TV show ''Karma'', with Aris Stefani in the short film ‘’Camera for sale’’, with Louis Patsias in the short film ''Profile'' and with Stergios Dinopoulos in the short film ''The painful squeezing of everything good''. She recently designed, developed and did the voice over of the stopmotion animation ‘’Stories of women’s bravery’’ as a result for the MakersHouse Residency organized by the YouthMakerspace Larnaca.
As an assistant director Nayia worked with Adonis Floridis and the Cyprus Theatre Organisation at ''The sound of the gun'', with Themis Theocharoglou and T Theatre Company at the adaptation of Elisavet Vakalidou’s autobiography ''My soul’s captain'' and ''My little green dress'' and with Ersi Vasilikioti and Experimental Art Stage of Thessaloniki at ''The Visit''.
As a Drama facilitator she cooperate among others with Cyprus Theatre Organisation, The Foundation of Cultural Creation for Children and Youth and the Mediterranean College in Thessaloniki for ''The drama games as a teaching method'' for academics. Nayia teaches Educational Drama and drama games in a variety group of ages.
She also presented her first play ‘’φ’’ at the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute.
Nayia was a member of the artistic committee in the 32nd Pancyprian Festival of Amateur Theatre and she’s currently a member of the board of directors for ASSITEJ (Association of Theatre for Children and Young People) in Cyprus.
